Privacy Policy

1. Overview

CyFuel ("the app", "we", "us") is a free, independent service that displays fuel prices from the Cyprus Government Fuel Price Observatory, refreshed daily. CyFuel is available as a website and as an iOS app. It is operated by LudeHQ, based in Larnaca, Cyprus. LudeHQ is the controller for any personal data processed through CyFuel.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information, if any, we collect when you use CyFuel and how it is used.

2. Information We Collect

We do not ask you to create an account. Specifically:

  • We do not collect your name, email address, or phone number as a condition of use.
  • Location for Near Me is processed on your device (browser or iPhone) to measure distance to stations. Coordinates are not sent to our servers.
  • We do not use tracking cookies or advertising identifiers.
  • If you enable price drop alerts in the iOS app, see section 3. The website does not collect a push token.

3. iOS App and Price Drop Alerts

The CyFuel iOS app can optionally send price drop notifications via Apple Push Notification service (APNs). When you enable alerts:

  • Apple issues an opaque device token. We store that token plus the districts, fuel types, and drop sensitivity you chose, solely so we can deliver the alerts you asked for.
  • The token is not linked to an account or to your name. There is no login.
  • Disabling alerts unsubscribes the token. We may also remove tokens that Apple reports as invalid.
  • Favourites, theme, language and other preferences stay in the app on your device (UserDefaults) and are not uploaded.

4. Anonymous Analytics

On the website we may collect anonymised, aggregated analytics data (e.g. page views, country, device type) via privacy respecting tools. This data cannot be used to identify you individually. You can block analytics by using a browser ad blocker or privacy extension. The iOS app does not include a third party analytics SDK.

5. Legal Bases

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Operating and securing CyFuel, including short lived server logs processed by our hosting provider, is based on our legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR.
  • Anonymous, cookieless analytics on the website is based on our legitimate interests in understanding how the site is used and keeping it useful, under Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR.
  • Delivering optional price drop alerts you enabled is based on your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw by turning alerts off in the app.
  • Device location for Near Me is processed only on your device and is never sent to us.

6. Data Source

All fuel price data displayed in CyFuel is fetched once a day from the Cyprus Government's Fuel Price Observatory (Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry). Aggregated history used for charts and drop detection is derived from that daily data.

7. Service Worker & Caching

The website registers a browser Service Worker to enable offline use and faster loading (Progressive Web App). The service worker caches static assets (HTML, CSS, JS) on your device only. No personal data is stored in the cache. The iOS app may cache the latest price snapshot on device so the app still works offline.

8. Third Party Services

CyFuel uses the following third parties:

  • Apple (iOS app): App Store distribution and, if you enable alerts, APNs for delivering notifications.
  • Map apps: Optional navigate actions can open Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze. Those apps' own privacy policies apply.
  • Vercel: Hosting and anonymous website analytics. Vercel may process standard web server data such as your IP address, request path, and timestamp under its Privacy Policy. Hosting request logs are kept briefly by Vercel and are not used by us to identify anyone.
  • Supabase: Database hosting for fuel prices and, when alerts are enabled, push subscription rows (device token and alert preferences only).

We do not sell personal data and do not use it for advertising.

9. International Transfers

Vercel and other infrastructure providers may process request data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where applicable, these transfers are covered by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

10. Cookies

CyFuel does not set any first party cookies on the website. Third party services listed above may set their own cookies subject to their policies. The iOS app does not use cookies.

11. Your Rights

Where the GDPR applies, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate personal data.
  • Ask us to erase your personal data.
  • Receive your personal data in a portable format.
  • Ask us to restrict the processing of your personal data.
  • Object to the processing of your personal data.

For most users we hold no personal data. If you enabled iOS alerts, you can erase the subscription by disabling alerts in the app, or email us with your request at hello@cyfuel.online.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection in Cyprus.

12. Children's Privacy

CyFuel is not directed to children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated date at the top of this page will always reflect the latest revision.
